Hyatt has opened its first property in the Greek capital Athens, located on Syngrou Avenue next to the Onassis Cultural Centre.
The Grand Hyatt Athens features 309 rooms and suites with views of the Acropolis, city or landscaped gardens, as well as a lounge for Club Room guests.
Facilities include a rooftop restaurant and outdoor swimming pool, as well as a second indoor heated pool, sauna, hammam (opening early 2019), a second restaurant, lobby lounge and bar, and seven meeting spaces holding up to 1,000 guests.
The hotel’s lobby also features The Coin art installation, “made from replicated, ancient Athenian coins representing the Greek economic supremacy in the fifth century BC”.
Commenting on the opening Nikos Trikourakis, general manager of Grand Hyatt Athens, said:
“Athens is fast becoming the destination of choice where ancient history sits alongside modern coffee shops and rooftop bars. Our hotel will offer guests who seek first-class hospitality unforgettable experiences and a luxurious place to stay.”
The Grand Hyatt Athens is the first property under the Grand Hyatt branding in Greece, and only the second Hyatt family property in the country, joining the Hyatt Regency Thessaloniki.
