Members of Malaysia Airlines frequent-flyer programme Enrich can now purchase miles to boost their total balance through the airline’s new Buy Miles scheme.

Under the initiative, members will be able to pay for miles at a rate of 1 Enrich Mile = US$0.025, with a minimum of 1,000 miles and a maximum of 50,000 miles per transaction. This translates to US$25 for 1,000 miles as a minimum, and US$1,250 for 50,000 miles as a maximum.

Beyond the minimum and maximum thresholds, there does not appear to be restrictions on the precise number of miles that can be purchased, opening the door for members being able to buy the exact number of miles they need in order to reach a specific total rather than a pre-set batch.

That being said, Enrich is also running a promotion until July 31, 2018 that will enable members to get 30 per cent extra bonus miles when purchasing during the promotional period.

Each member can only purchase a total of 150,000 miles through the Buy Miles scheme per calendar year.

Purchased miles are then credited to a member’s account within one to three days with a validity of three years. These can be redeemed for award tickets on Malaysia Airlines, Oneworld alliance carriers and Enrich partner airlines, as well as upgrades, lounge access and in-flight vouchers. They won’t, however, count towards the accumulation of Elite Miles required in order to reach Elite Tier Status.

Speaking about the “accelerator feature”, Lau Yin May, head of customer experience at Malaysia Airlines, said: “With the Enrich Buy Miles platform, nearly four million Enrich members are now able to top-up their Enrich Miles balance online with just a few clicks, at their own convenience, at any time, any day.

“This empowers our members to have more control over their rewards experience and enjoy more of what Enrich has to offer”.
