IndiGo will start using electronic swatters to control the ongoing mosquito menace it is facing, especially when parked at airports in Kolkata, Lucknow, Varanasi, and Chandigarh.

This decision comes a month after Bengaluru-based Saurabh Rai was allegedly manhandled and offloaded from an IndiGo flight after he complained of mosquitos in the aircraft.

Starting this month, all IndiGo flights will have two swatters each, which will be used in specific situations, but not during the plane refuelling. Batteries will be charged before take off.

Meanwhile, the other Indian airlines continue to use insecticides before departure and place mosquito repellent patches within the aircraft as precautionary measures.  goindigo.in
