Edition Hotels, part of the multitude of brands of Marriott International, will open no less than seven hotels next year, spanning cities as diverse as Los Angeles, Barcelona and Bangkok.
The properties – some of which have been in the works for a while – follow existing hotels in London, Miami Beach, New York and Sanya. We have reviewed the London and Sanya properties at:
Specific opening dates are not yet available for any of the seven hotels, nor are reservations open at this time, but expected arrival ranges from the middle to the end of 2018.

In China, The Shanghai Edition will have 147 rooms split between two towers on Nanjing Road, not far from the city’s famous Bund. There will be a signature Japanese restaurant on floor 27, two rooftop bars, a Cantonese restaurant and all-day dining venue and no less than three lounge bars, as well as a nightlife venue. Plans also call for meeting spaces and a members’ club bar and screening room.

In Thailand, The Bangkok Edition is part of MahaNakhon Tower, with its distinctive ‘pixelated’ design by architect Ole Scheeren. The 154 rooms, public spaces, pool and spa occupy the lower part of the tower; above there are private Ritz-Carlton Residences. The hotel will be a few stops on the Skytrain away from the Waldorf Astoria, due to arrive summer next year.

Another two additions are planned for Europe: Bodrum and Barcelona. The Bodrum Edition will have 99 rooms, suites and villas with views of Aegan Sea, while The Barcelona Edition brings 100 rooms to the city’s El Born district, along with a signature restaurant, club and lounge, cocktail bar, and rooftop bar and outdoor pool.

New York will get a second property under the brand in The Times Square Edition. Much larger at 457 rooms, the hotel will sit on top of a 120-ft-tall, 18,000 sq ft LED display. On the west coast, The West Hollywood Edition, at West Sunset Blvd and North Doheny Drive, will have 190 rooms as well as 20 private residences.

Another country that will welcome Edition – though not until the next decade – is Japan, with two properties in progress for its capital: The Tokyo Edition, Ginza and The Tokyo Edition, Toranomon.
