Jet Airways expands Seat Select for economy passengers

25 Aug 2016 by Neha Gupta Kapoor

Up until August 24, Jet Airways’ economy passengers could block a seat only in the first (bulkhead) and tenth rows for a fee, on domestic and international flights. Now, Seat Select has expanded to window, aisle, and reclining exit row seats that have extra legroom.

Gaurang Shetty, whole-time director at Jet Airways, says, “Jet Airways has always endeavoured to craft the best possible in-flight experience for all of our guests. Expanding our Seat Select service to include the bulkhead seats is another step towards doing that. The move is a game-changer that gives our guests the option to better tailor their flying experience to their needs and a greater say in choosing how they want to fly.”

Blocking a bulkhead or exit row seat will cost economy passengers ₹600 on domestic routes and from ₹1,000 to ₹3,500 on international routes. All other rows are available for ₹300 on domestic routes and from ₹500 to ₹1,750 on international routes.

Passengers of first and première class, and Platinum members of JetPrivilege, the airline’s loyalty programme, can continue to book any seat in the aircraft at no additional cost. JetPrivilege Gold members can also block seats free of cost under Fare Choices that was introduced on August 17.

Seats can be blocked on the website, Jet Airways app or through a travel agent, at any time after purchase of the ticket.

Seats will be assigned by the airline, free of charge, 24 hours before the flight’s scheduled departure.

*The last three economy rows are excluded from Seat Select.
