Italian carrier Air One has launched its first intercontinental flights from Milan Malpensa to Chicago, with a second long-haul service to Boston starting this weekend.

The new routes will be plied with A330-200 aircraft in a two-class configuration (22 business class seats, rising to 38 after the summer season). The Milan-Chicago route is running six times weekly (no service on Wednesday), departing at 1200 and arriving into Chicago O’Hare at 1455. The return leg leaves the US at 1655, reaching Milan at 0835 the following day.

The Boston service will run daily except Tuesday and Thursday, leaving Milan at 1105 and arriving into Boston’s Logan International airport at 1400. The return service departs at 1610, arriving back into Milan at 0540 the next day.

In both cases, Air One will become the only carrier offering non-stop services from Milan to the US cities – connecting alternatives include BA via Heathrow or Swiss via Zurich.

Air One (pronounced “Heron” in Italian) says that its long-haul expansion plans include further destinations in North America, as well as routes to South America and the Far East.

As an introductory promotion, the carrier is offering return companion tickets on the Milan-Chicago route for €999 per couple (including taxes and charges).
