AccorHotels launched the Mercure Chennai Sriperumbudur hotel this week.  This is their first property in Tamil Nadu under the Mercure brand and eighth Mercure property in India. 

It is situated 45 minutes away from Chennai Airport, and tourist destinations like Kanchipuram and Mahabalipuram are an hour’s drive away.  

Mercure Chennai Sriperumbudur features 100 rooms and suites. Room categories include Superior King Bedroom, Superior Twin Bedroom, Deluxe King and Executive suite. In-room amenities provided include free wifi, a tea and coffee maker, a work desk and a shower. For recreational purposes, guests can use the gym and the outdoor swimming pool.

The property has two F&B options – Melange, which serves international and regional cuisine and has a view of the pool, and Hybrid that is a sports themed bar and lounge serving mocktails and snacks.

The hotel has six meeting spaces including boardrooms and banquet halls. Guests can also use the hotel’s business center where copy and print services are provided. 

“The new hotel has 100 rooms and is located in the industrial area of Oragadam, just opposite to Apollo Tyres unit. It is ideally suited for business travellers as the nearest business hotel is about 15 kms away, said Neeraj Govil, chief executive at SMP Management Group.

Pipeline

Accor plans to open four more hotels by 2019 in Kochi, Vijayawada, Ahmedabad and Kolkata. The hospitality group also plans to launch their Raffles brand in India – full details of this are yet to be revealed by the hospitality group.
