IHG is to add its first Holiday Inn property in Cape Town later this year, with the rebranding of the existing Strand Tower Hotel.

The 242-room property is located on the corner of Strand Street and Loop Street in the city’s commercial business district, close to the V&A Waterfront.

Facilities include an all-day dining restaurant, gym, sauna, and steam room, as well as a total of six conference and break out rooms.

Commenting on the news Rajit Sukumaran, Chief Development Officer, Asia, Middle East and Africa, IHG, said:

“This partnership is aligned with the strategic expansion of the Holiday Inn brand as well as growing IHG’s overall footprint in South Africa.

“In support of this goal, we are delighted to be working with Leisure Hotel Holding (Pty) Ltd, which has a proven track record in high-quality and strong performance in the hospitality industry.”

Holiday Inn Cape Town will join the existing Holiday Inn Express Cape Town City Centre, located around five minutes walk south of the Strand Tower Hotel.

Carlson Rezidor recently opened its first Radisson Red property in Cape Town, located on the V&A Waterfront.

Meanwhile Marriott also has plans to debut its Marriott Hotels, Residence Inn and AC Hotels brands in the city.
