Cathay Pacific will remain with Oneworld

Cathay Pacific Airways (CX) has put to rest rumours about contemplating a jump from the Oneworld alliance to Star Alliance.
A CX spokesperson emphatically stated: “Cathay Pacific is a founding member of oneworld and we are committed to the development and growth of the alliance.”
Rumours stemmed from a blog post, which stated that the carrier’s dissatisfaction with the alliance is to do with the “determined efforts by the HNA Group to advance the candidacy of Hainan Airlines” and the other associated carriers, including Hong Kong Airlines and Hong Kong Express.
Several forum posters on the Business Traveller website, reacting to the blog, stated that leaving oneworld would not only be illogical since Star Alliance consists of Cathay's biggest competitors but would also have immense consequences for the alliance itself.

Huge sigh of relief! Would have been disastrous for Oneworld given their lack of other Chinese partner.
