Headed by Michelin-starred Chef Alfredo Russo, La Trattoria by Alfredo Russo at The Pelham London is known for serving traditional Italian fare with a touch of Russo’s creativity. A combination of modern and classic architecture, this chic restaurant features understated tones and soft furnishing.

To begin with, I had grilled calamari served with olives and cherry. The calamari was firm and fortunately not rubbery. For mains, I opted for the filetto di branzino con prezzemolo e oregano consisting of pan-fried sea bream with parsley and oregano — the dish was well cooked and perfectly balanced in terms of flavours. I also tried braised beef in red wine, which was juicy and aptly suitable for my palette. My sweet indulgence included a plate of panna cotta served with mixed berries— just the right way to end a delightful meal.

Also, those looking to enjoy a scrumptious breakfast in the heart of London South Kensington, this place offers pancakes with bacon,
berries and maple syrup; duck egg on potato; goat’s cheese rosti, and the popular Pelham porridge.

Verdict: The restaurant offers an interesting approach to classic Italian cuisine.
