Raffles Hotels & Resorts has signed an agreement with property developer Jiangsu Golden Land to bring its luxury hotel brand to Suzhou, China.
The 150-room Raffles Suzhou is scheduled to open in 2020, and will be located in a mixed-use development in the Suzhou New District Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone – home to a number of Fortune 500 companies, including Logitech, Canon and Motorola.
The new hotel will include more than 1,400 sqm of meeting facilities, five F&B venues including the brand’s signature Writer’s Bar and Long Bar, as well as the Raffles Bar. A limited number of serviced apartments, under the Raffles Residences brand, will also be made available.
“As one of China’s leading economic centres, with a growing arts and cultural scene, Suzhou is quickly establishing itself as a very popular regional travel destination,” said Peter French, president of Raffles Hotels & Resorts.
“Likewise, with a new international airport in the pipeline and the city attracting a greater amount of foreign investment, there is a growing need for luxury hotel options in the market.”
Raffles Suzhou will join a brand portfolio in China that includes Raffles Beijing and Raffles Hainan. Ahead of its opening, Raffles Hotels & Resorts is also scheduled to open a new hotel in Shenzhen in 2019.
