Oakwood to debut in Kuala Lumpur

10 May 2016 by Clement Huang

Oakwood Asia-Pacific has confirmed a partnership with Plenitude Berhad to open the first Oakwood-branded serviced apartment property in Kuala Lumpur.

As part of the deal, Plenitude is investing RM50 million (US$12.3 million) to upgrade the Nomad Sucasa All Suites Hotel into an Oakwood property. Nomad has been closed since July 2015, and will reopen later this year under management by Oakwood Asia-Pacific.

Oakwood Hotel & Residence Kuala Lumpur will be located in the historic Ampang district – home to many embassies including those from the UK, France, China, Russia and Indonesia.

The development will offer 252 units, as well as a number of facilities including a swimming pool, gym and restaurants – all typical of the Oakwood Residence brand. Other services will include a 24-hour concierge, business services and high-speed internet connection.

“[Having] invested for the renovation and upgrading of Oakwood Hotel & Residence Kuala Lumpur, the refreshed development will meet the varied needs of leisure and business travellers alike,” said Elsie Chua, chairman of the board at Plenitude Berhad. “We picked the Oakwood Residence brand for its promise of elegance, comfort and convenience, supported by personalised service that cares for every guest and resident.”
