Qatar Airways to increase frequency to Singapore

3 Feb 2015 by Clement Huang

Qatar Airways is set to launch a third daily service to Singapore from June 1, 2015.

The news is especially noteworthy, as Qatar Airways has also revealed that it will be operating all three daily flights with its third, fourth and fifth A350 XWB aircraft. This will effectively make Qatar Airways the first airline to operate the A350 to Singapore and the Asia-Pacific.

“We are delighted to add another flight to this important and strategic route which will provide our Singapore-based passengers with even more options when they travel on business or leisure to key destinations in Europe and the Americas that include London, Paris, Frankfurt, Rome, Milan, New York, Chicago and Houston,” said Qatar Airways Group chief executive, Akbar Al Baker.

The new daily flight, QR942 will depart Doha at 2025 and arrive in Singapore the next day at 0915. Following a quick turnaround, flight QR943 will take off from Singapore at 1040 and arrive back in Doha at 1315 the same day.

For a complete schedule of Qatar Airways’ Doha–Singapore flights, see below:

  • Departure in Doha QR944 at 0225, arriving in Singapore at 1515
  • Departure from Singapore QR945 0230, arriving in Doha at 0505
  • Departure in Doha QR938 at 0700, arriving in Singapore at 1950
  • Departure from Singapore QR939 at 2120, arriving in Doha at 2355
  • Departure in Doha QR942 at 2025, arriving in Singapore at 0915
  • Departure from Singapore QR943 1040, arriving in Doha at 1315

With a total of 80 orders on the books, the Gulf carrier is the world’s largest customer of the A350. At the moment it only has one in its fleet, which it currently operates on the Doha–Frankfurt route. The airline’s second A350 is expected to join its fleet later this month, and will begin commercial duties to Frankfurt from March 1, 2015.

Qatar Airways has configured its A350XWB aircraft with a two-class layout, with 36 seats in business (1-2-1), and 247 seats in economy (3-3-3).
