From January 1, members of Lufthansa Group’s Miles&More frequent flyer programme will only accrue 25 per cent of status miles when travelling on Star Alliance partner Turkish Airlines (TK).
The reduction effectively means that attaining Miles&More tier status through frequent travel on TK becomes almost impossible.
It is unclear what has caused the sudden change.
Award miles accrual on flights to and fro non-European destinations will remain unchanged at the below rates:
Business Class |
C, D, K: 2.0 x distance; at least 1,000 miles |
J: 1.5 x distance; at least 750 miles |
Comfort Class (premium economy) |
A, O, U: 1.5 x distance; at least 750 miles |
Economy Class |
B, H, M, Y: 1.0 x distance; at least 500 miles |
E, L, Q, S, T: 0.5 x distance; at least 500 miles |
Miles & More is the largest loyalty programme in Europe with 26 million members as of November 2014. It was launched by Lufthansa in 1993 and is used by 13 European airlines.
