Singapore Airlines (SIA) is now offering the Prelude “Grands Crus” from Taittinger champagne to its business class customers.
Produced by one of the few remaining family-owned champagne houses, the bubbly is made with equal portions of Grand Cru Pinot Nor grapes and Chardonnay.
"Prelude “Grands Crus” is made solely from the best Grand Cru vineyards in the Taittinger family’s own estate and is then aged for more than five years in their cellars. For elegance in the glass and exclusivity in the air, this is something really special,” said SIA Wine Panel newest member Oz Clarke.
The flag carrier of Singapore maintains a panellist of wine experts that offer consultation and critique on the airline’s alcoholic offering. Members include Michael Hill-Smith – the first Australian to pass the Master of Wine examinations, and Jeannie Cho Lee, the first Asian to be awarded the coveted title.
SIA serves some 194,000 bottles of champagne every year. It remains the only airline that offers the rare Grand Cru Red Burgundy, as well as the prestigious Dom Perignon and Krug Grand Cuvée.
