Cathay Pacific (CX) will start operating direct flights to Colombo (CMB) starting from October 27, whilst maintaining its current services to the Sri Lankan city via a stopover in Bangkok.
This will represent a significant service upgrade by the Hong Kong-based carrier as, in addition to the existing three-times weekly HKG-BKK-CMB service, CX will also offer four non-stop flights per week to Colombo. This effectively means that the carrier will serve Sri Lanka with daily flights.
The new direct services will be operated by an Airbus A330-300 featuring a three-class cabin configuration, with 39 seats in business, 28 in premium economy and 175 in economy.
Despite being a regional route, CX will be offering its popular long-haul business class product, as opposed to its regional business seat. For our Tried & Tested reviews of both products, see here and here. To subscribe to Business Traveller Asia-Pacific, click here.
