27 Sep 2013 by Clement Huang

Customers flying between Singapore and London have become the first to experience Singapore Airlines’ new generation of cabin products. The seats will be introduced on eight incoming Boeing 777-300ERs – the first of which has already been delivered.

The aircraft departed for London at 1245 today, and will continue to operate on select flights between Singapore the UK capital throughout October.

SIA revealed that the flight frequency would be gradually increased as more B777-300ER aircraft enter service. The Singaporean carrier intends to begin daily operation from late October.

Nearly US$150 million has been invested in the new products, and improvements include new seat designs for first, business and economy class. In addition, the Kris World in-flight entertainment system has been revamped, and now offers larger screens and touch-screen headsets. Click here for a detailed report on the new offerings.

Earlier today at the Business Traveller Asia-Pacific Travel Awards, SIA retained its place as the Best Airline in Asia-Pacific and the World. Following the win, Chin Yau Seng, the airline’s AG senior vice president, sales & marketing, spoke about how the airline continues to be the leading industry standard for quality.

According to Lim, “the focus for us is always on the customer. Whatever we do, [be it] service or product, it’s always about the customer”.
