Hainan Airlines has started using the B787 on the Beijing – Shanghai route, the airline's second Dreamliner service after it debuted the aircraft on the Haikou – Beijing route on July 11.
The daily domestic service departs Beijing at 1740 and reaches Hongqiao, Shanghai at 1945. The return leg leaves at 2040 and arrives back in the capital at 2300.
Under Chinese regulations, each of the Dreamliner put into service has to fulfill at least three months of domestic service before flying on international routes. The Beijing – Shanghai B787 operation is thus a preparation for the aircraft to go global.
The 213-seat B787 consists of 36 business class seats in a 2-2-2 configuration, and 177 economy seats in a 3-3-3 across arrangement.
The business class seat, with a 74 inches seat pitch, can recline into a horizontal flatbed. There is also a USB port installed at each seat. The premium cabin also has a bar area.
The economy class seat is equipped with a 15” seat-back TV and a power outlet.
On the day of receiving its first B787 delivery early this month, the airline also announced future plans for the aircraft (see here).
