The Central Weather Bureau of Taiwan has issued a warning in anticipation of the impending arrival of Typhoon Soulik, which – based on the current forecasted track – is expected to hit Taipei directly this evening. This has so far caused the cancellation of 10 flights operated by China Airlines – Taiwan's largest carrier – and one EVA Airways service to Jinan, China.
Soulik, a severe typhoon, is approaching Taiwan at 22 kms per hour, moving west-northwest from a distance of 1,030 kms. It is expected to gain strength over the next 24 hours, with winds increasing to 24 kms per hour. The typhoon will hit Taiwan at about 2100 later tonight (local time).
Delta Airlines has posted an update online urging travellers going to Taiwan to check their flight status frequently. The airline will be providing up-to-the-minute flight schedule updates.
