A newly released smartphone application, Gwanshee Mobile, targets the business traveller in Hong Kong, Mainland China and Macau with updates on networking events as well as a vast business directory.
The app allows users to find nearby social and professional events and seminars in Hong Kong, Macau, Shanghai, Beijing, Guanghzou and Shenzhen via GPS facility or Google Maps. Both free and paid public events are included in the listing. Additionally, the app’s directory consists of details on products and services provided by local businesses in various categories as well as their contact information.
On top of these two key functions, the app also offers a jobs board with vacancies in the various cities and a “friend finder” function that helps users locate friends or colleagues. It can also be sychronised with other social networking sites such as LinkedIn and Facebook.
The app will eventually be expanded to include more markets in China and the rest of Asia-Pacific in the near future. It is available in the Android Market (US$5) and Apple iTunes (US$ 4.99), with a version for BlackBerry in the works.
