Bangkok Airways and Finnair sign codeshare deal

Bangkok Airways and Finnair entered into a codeshare pact on January 15. Under the deal, Finnair will place its AY code on Bangkok Airways’ Singapore-Samui and Hong Kong-Samui flights, as well as Bangkok Airways’ domestic flights between Bangkok and Samui, Phuket and Chiang Mai.

Finnair has daily services from Helsinki to Singapore (launched in May 2011, see story here), Bangkok and Hong Kong, and the new codeshare agreement allows passengers to enjoy smoother connection to Koh Samui via Bangkok Airways. It is also part of Bangkok Airways’ plan to extend its reach through more partnerships. 

“This new codeshare arrangement will make the paradise island Koh Samui even easier reach for Finnair passengers,” said Hannu Sundberg, vice-president for airline partnerships at Finnair. “Chiang Mai and the Northern part of Thailand is gaining popularity among European travellers and it is now well connected with Finnair's double daily Bangkok services. This new partnership will open new possibilities to our passengers to visit Thailand and combine it with other destinations in Asia for added experience.”
