Tiger Airways has announced it will increase frequencies on popular routes to meet peak demand during the Christmas and Chinese New Year periods.
Flights from Singapore to Krabi will go from a daily service to a 12 weekly service between December 22, 2011, and January 2, 2012. For Chinese New Year, the Singapore-Penang route will double going from seven flights per week to 14 between January 20 until January 29, 2012, while the Singapore-Kuching route will operate 12 times a week between January 17 and January 27, 2012.
Traffic indicators at Singapore’s Changi Airport highlight the rapid growth of low-cost carriers, such as Tiger Airways, and demand for regional destinations. In September this year, traffic on LCCs accounted for a quarter of traffic at Changi Airport. “Southeast Asia and Northeast Asia have been major contributors to passenger traffic at Changi Airport year-to-date,” stated the airport.
