Corporate travellers, holding a Citibank credit card, can now access their accounts, banking services and Citibank card promotions around Asia through a new smart phone mobile application.
The app, which is available in Hongkong, Singapore, Korea and Malaysia, enables them to use any of Citibank’s mobile banking services, such as checking their account balance, viewing credit card statements and transferring money between their Citi accounts.
Furthermore, the app can locate Citibank privilege promotional schemes available in shopping malls, restaurants and bars in any of the above countries with the help of the phone’s GPS function, as well as calculate the rewards earned when using the Citibank credit card abroad.
This app is compatible with the Android, Windows mobile, Nokia and the iPhone. It can be downloaded for free from the various application stores, such as the Ovi and the Apple store. However, it is not available for Blackberry users and in Singapore, Malaysia and Korea, it is only available for the iPhone.
Maggie Yeung, country marketing director of Citibank Hong Kong said: “We continue to invest in enhancing customer experience by launching this multi-platform and comprehensive mobile application that enables our customers to enjoy our services and offers on the road in a more convenient way.”
Citibank's competitors Standard Chartered and HSBC have still to launch their own mobile apps. Standard Chartered has a phone app but it is only to locate branches and ATM machines. HSBC states that customers can access online banking via their web browser but have no special app for it. They have an app for the BlackBerry but which simply takes you directly to the internet banking site.
