OPENING
- The Accor
Group has taken over management of the 250-room Hanoi Horison Hotel and will be re-branded as a Pullman property. The
hotel will undergo refurbishment and open in 2011.
- Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has opened its second Traders hotel in the Middle East, Traders Hotel, Qaryat Al, Beri, Abu Dhabi, featuring 300 rooms and suites. It features The Traders Club executive floor with a private lounge and meeting spaces for small meetings. The hotel also has a restaurant, a lobby lounge and pool bar
- Overlooking the Straits of Johor, Thistle Johor Bahru has officially opened in Malaysia, featuring 381 guestrooms including 125 luxury rooms and 19 apartment units that are available for long-term stays. The newly renovated hotel features a fitness centre and spa, two restaurants, two bars, tennis court and a large ballroom with a capacity for up to 650 people. Thistle Johor Bahru follows the recent launch of Thistle Port Dickson Resort.
- Best Western Premier Solo, the first Best Western property in Indonesia will soft open in Java in mid-August this year. Situated 20 minutes from Adi Sumarno International Airport, it blends traditional Indonesian features – such as the Javanese batik – with modern comforts. The 148-room hotel features a swimming pool, spa and fitness centre, business centre, meetings and conference rooms among others.
NEW HOTEL DEVELOPMENT
- Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide will manage a golf leisure complex in Islamabad, Pakistan. Sheraton Islamabad Golf City Resort will be the first internationally branded golf resort in Pakistan. It will consist of a 377-room luxury hotel that includes 15 serviced apartments, a 3.200sqm meeting space, high-tech gym and a full-service spa among others. Meanwhile, Sheraton Islamabad Lakeview Hotel, to be built on Muree Road, will be conveniently close to the Islamabad International Conference Centre. The 220-room hotel will house a purpose-built tower and offer 1,200sqm of meeting space. Both properties are scheduled for opening between 2012 and 2013.
