The Hilton Mobile service, accessed by visiting hilton.co.uk on your mobile device and launched with Dublin-based specialist Mobile Travel Technologies (MTT), also allows users to access and change existing bookings and view hotel pictures and information, such as facilities and directions to a property.
Hilton Mobile is integrated with the Hilton Hhonors loyalty scheme, so members can view a points summary and book quickly, with certain fields already filled out.
There is also a Web App version for iPhone users, and with the GPS capability of the iPhone, the service will also show a list of nearby Hilton hotels and the distance from the user’s current location.
Geraldine Calpin, vice president of brand web sites for Hilton Hotels, said: “By launching local mobile services for Hilton customers in the UK, we not only improve customer service, but create a new distribution channel for our products.”
Hilton Mobile uses MTT’s intelligent mobile hotel platform, m2bed, which automatically directs users to a view of the site suitable for their particular device. According to MTT the use of mobile travel services is growing by around 20 per cent every month.
Gerry Samuels, Founder and Executive Director, MTT, commented: “Mobile technology is playing an increasing role in new marketing and distribution strategies of major hotel chains. As consumers increasingly take advantage of the convenience of mobile to make bookings and make changes on-the-go, hotel chains are now seeing strong revenue growth as well as having a customer service advantage.”
