British Airways has expanded its health and well-being section of ba.com by posting a series of free podcasts on the effects and prevention of jet lag.

The six podcasts (five of which are already available, with the final one coming online on April 11), include advice from BA's resident sleep expert Dr Chris Idzikowski (aka Dr Sleep). The first edition deals with the fundamentals of sleep and the affects of long-distance travel on our body clocks, while episode 2 gives advice on managing travel fatigue. Subsequent postings discuss the effects of light, body temperature and melatonin on sleeping habits, and "the business side of sleep" – incorporating sleep into your business travel schedule. Unfortunately none of the podcasts guarantees you will actually fall asleep while listening to it.

The podcasts can be downloaded to any mp3 player by visiting ba.com/podcast, or travellers can subscribe to the site's RSS feed which will automatically inform them when the latest podcast becomes available.

For further information on the effects of jet lag, including more advice from Dr Sleep and other jet lag experts, read Katharine Cooke's investigation in March's issue of Business Traveller.
