I really like this sleek, new livery:

Set fair to underline a break with the old, unmodernised past and launch the airline to profitability from 2014 onwards.

Has anyone tried the revamped BusinessPlus seat?

    It’s truly horrible.

It looks like the front three quarters of a Swiss plane, married to the tail of an Asiana.

At least there is a lot of white on there, so it won’t cost so much to re-paint into BA colours, when IB expires.

Looks like Iberia is going from strength to strength thanks to the tough decisions being taken by Willie Walsh at IAG.

Here’s the spiel from interbrand which sets out the reasoning behind the new paint job:

“Inspired by the Spanish culture and its influence on the world, the evolution of the new identity has been undertaken in order to increase affinity with all the airline’s audiences by building an expressive, vital and relevant discourse. The new Iberia brand identity reflects a truly revived spirit of excitement and the determination to bring to life a true transformation. The Iberia brand now manifests new aspirations and strategic intent from a company with a great legacy that today boldly reinvents itself.

The new brand personality makes more prominent use of the colors of the Spanish flag, especially of the colour red. Research confirms red is perceived as a symbol of vitality, expressiveness, of Spanish artistry and character. It is a colour which also perfectly represents perfectly the vital spirit of the new Iberia and one of the most admired and creative cultures in the world.”

I like the fact it’s an evolution, not a revolution.

    Hi SM

I like the new livery and, let’s face it, it was time for a makeover. The story was covered by BT recently:

Awful….and still will not change the fact they are a naf airline!

Why BA ever decided to partner with them is beyond me…..I give it 18 months and they will be a gonna anyway.

Aiming for $2bn group operating profit in 18months….hardly a gonna!

Though I agree (and hope) that Iberia should be completely unrecognisable from the Statist legacy carrier IAG took over in a few year’s time.

Share price has done very well so far this year, if it continues it will have more than doubled in twelve months:

What sort of design would you have preferred?

Iberia to return to profit in 2014, a year earlier than forecast.

Mrs JH has commented and I agree with her that the new IB livery looks like it was designed in a primary school. It’s an ill thought through mess.

In profit? Well let’s wait and see. It still won’t make them an airline I will set foot on.

As for WeeWillie’s tough decisions, I think another word for them was bullying.

I really like the older livery myself, and am yet to see how this new one “adds” to their appeal. I like many of the refreshed or new liveries, for example American & Air France but this does seem yucky and bland.

Would be pleased to try either their old or new J class product however.

The BA livery in Iberia colours would have done the trick.

I expect it will look better on the smaller/shorter aircraft rather than the A330/A340s.

What if you have a crack in the wall, do you fix it or do you splash a coat of paint over it?

I have tried the new J class and it is nothing to get exited about. The seat is very similar to Swiss. I actually prefer the older style as it feels you have more space.
