I think that LPL is a horribly poor airport, particularly once airside, and even with the recent upgrades to the retail and catering outlets, the lounge and gate areas are shocking.
I only ever use it where there is no sensible alternative, and thankfully that means very rarely.
I dont think its so bad, not for an airport mainly involved with low cost airlines, the check-in area is pleasant enough. Flew from Stansted a number of years ago, really didnt like that.
