Your stay: Aman Tokyo has rooms inspired by traditional Japanese residences and feature a blend of wood, washi paper and stone, with modern technology and luxurious fabrics. Your stay: The Conrad Tokyo has over 290 contemporary guestrooms and suites. Grand Hyatt Tokyo

What we love: Fitness enthusiasts can explore Nagomi Spa and Fitness with a fitness centre — very well-equipped — and a swimming pool. The spa offers all kinds of relaxing therapies and treatments. There is also one Vichy wet treatment room and a couple’s treatment suite with a sunken bath.

Imperial Hotel Tokyo

Where: Chiyoda City

Your stay: Imperial Hotel Tokyo is filled with luxurious amenities and interiors specially done by England’s famed Julian Reed.  Dining: Tokyo Kitcho is a traditional Japanese restaurant that offers kaiseki cuisine. Specialities include Kitcho-style sukiyaki and shabu-shabu. Private dining rooms are also available.  There is Nakata which is a must-visit for traditional Tokyo style sushi along with other gourmet sushi.

What we love: The Imperial’s “TOKO-AN” is a set of three ceremonial chambers in sukiya style. Guests are invited to watch as their tea is prepared in the traditional way and the elaborate etiquette followed inlcude are practiced by sitting on tatami mat floors by both host and guests.

Mandarin Oriental Tokyo 

Where: Chuo City

Your stay: The hotel has a total of 157 guestrooms and 22 suites that feature Japanese style décor and designs that offer stunning views of the Tokyo sky tree and Mount Fuji. The Presidential Suite is spread across 250 sqm and comes with a dining room, living room and spa bathroom. The living area has a library and a cocktail space.  Dinner: Tapas Molecular Bar, a Michelin star restaurant offers an exclusive dining experience celebrating the art of innovative molecular cuisine. With only eight seats the bar serves a range of delicious dishes in the traditional sushi-bar style over two hours. There is Ventaglio, for an extensive buffet ranging from Spanish tapas to classic Greek and Turkish favourites served with a unique wine list. Guests can also savour a Cantonese menu at Sense.

What we love: Located on the 37th floor, Sense Tea Corner specialises in fine tea. They offer more than twenty different types of fragrant teas from around the world including green tea with powerful healing properties and pu-erh tea.

Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo
