IHG Hotels & Resorts will open its first ever managed luxury hotel in Brisbane, following the signing of an agreement with luxury property developer Kokoda to bring the Kimpton brand to the trendy suburb of Teneriffe in 2028.

The newly built hotel will form part of Kokoda’s $1.5 billion mixed-use development comprising extensive ground floor hospitality and retail spaces, commercial offices and multiple residential towers in a lifestyle precinct.

The new Kimpton will offer approximately 155 guestrooms and suites, including marquee suites designed to cater to celebrity guests and VIPs.

Remaining true to Kimpton’s global F&B ambitions, the upcoming Brisbane property will feature a 200-plus-seat signature restaurant and bar.

Moreover, Kimpton Brisbane will have a spa with multiple treatment rooms, a fitness centre and an infinity pool overlooking the Brisbane River and an open-air Garden Terrace bar.

IHG says that the vibrant, cool and social inner-city neighbourhood of Teneriffe is the perfect fit for the brand’s guest profile – with trendy wine bars, restaurants, breakfast cafés, dog parks, artisan bakeries and microbreweries all within walking distance.

With more than 70 hotels and 85 restaurants, bars and lounges around the world, IHG says that Kimpton is the fastest growing relaxed luxury brand globally.

The signing adds to the hotel group’s fast-growing luxury and lifestyle portfolio and reinforces its focus on its growing presence in Australia.

In the luxury and lifestyle segment, IHG has 14 open hotels and has a further five in the pipeline in Australia for brands including InterContinental, Six Senses, Hotel Indigo, and now Kimpton.

IHG currently has 53 hotels operating under eight brands in Australia, including InterContinental, Kimpton, Vignette Collection, Hotel Indigo, Crowne Plaza, voco, Holiday Inn Express and Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts, with another 19 hotels in the pipeline, including Kimpton Teneriffe.
