Travelodge has officially unveiled its new 85 Bar Cafe concept, as the group continues its brand revamp.
A total of 18 existing Travelodge Bar Cafes have been upgraded with the new offering, which features a statement bar and distinct zones for dining, socialising and working.
The name for the new concept is a nod to the opening of the brand’s first UK hotel in Barton-under-Needwood in 1985, and design elements include retro 1980s neon signage, floor-to-ceiling bookcase divisions between zones, and poster art referencing music or films from 1985.
The London locations which now feature an 85 Bar Cafe are:
London Central Covent Garden Travelodge, London Central Euston Travelodge, London Finchley Travelodge, London Finsbury Park Travelodge, London Kings Cross Royal Scot Travelodge and London Waterloo Travelodge
And outside of London the following properties have been upgraded:
Bath Waterside Travelodge, Birmingham Airport Travelodge, Blackpool South Shore Travelodge, Brighton Seafront Travelodge, Cambridge Orchard Park Travelodge, Canterbury Chaucer Central Travelodge, Cardiff Queen Street Travelodge, Edinburgh Cameron Toll Travelodge, Guildford Travelodge, Manchester Upper Brook Street Travelodge and Poole Travelodge
The group said that the rollout would continue to additional selected Bar Cafes, as well as in several new Travelodge properties.
The move follows the launch of the chain’s revamp in 2022, with features including redesigned rooms and a new “timeless classic style” reception.
In August last year Travelodge announced that around 20 per cent of its 600-odd UK hotels would feature the new design by the end of 2023.

This inviting space is available for both guests and passers-by to enjoy a drink or bite to eat or to connect with friends, family or colleagues. All of this is at great value, including our Unlimited breakfast offer, with the added benefit of children eating for free.
“The expansion of 85 Bar Café forms part of a strategic hotel investment programme which will see us upgrade half of our rooms by 2024.”
