SkyTeam member Vietnam Airlines will take off from Munich airport for the first time at the end of the summer flight schedule from 2 October 2024.

The Vietnamese flag carrier will fly twice a week between Hanoi and Munich, as well as twice a week between Ho Chi Minh City and Munich.

The airline will use a Boeing 787-9 for its new routes from the Bavarian capital.

These aircraft feature a three-class configuration, including 1-2-1 lie-flat business class seating, 2-3-2 premium economy and 3-3-3 economy class.

Flights to the capital Hanoi will operate on Mondays and Saturdays, while service to Ho Chi Minh City will operate every Tuesday, with a second weekly frequency, on Thursdays, to be added from December.

Munich will be Vietnam Airlines’ fourth European destination alongside Frankfurt, London-Heathrow, and Paris Charles de Gaulle.

“The new routes will expand our range of Asian connections and reinforce Munich Airport’s position as one of the leading aviation hubs in Europe. We are confident that these new direct flights will be very well received by our passengers and help to further enhance economic relations and cultural exchange between Bavaria and Vietnam,” said Jost Lammers, CEO of Munich airport.

Vietnam is popular among German tourists, and the two new routes also highlight the importance of German-Vietnamese economic relations, the airport added.
