As part of Radisson Hotel Group’s mission to achieve Net Zero by 2050, the company has appointed a responsible business coordinator to lead all related initiatives across the UAE, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Oman, and Qatar. The role will be filled by Neeraja Rahul, who hails from within the Radisson Hotel Group where she will continue to hold her current position as chief engineer at Radisson RED, Dubai Silicon Oasis alongside her new responsibilities.

Rahul, who began as an engineering admin before rising to a leadership position within just a few years, is dedicated to enhancing the group’s practices in sustainability, female empowerment, and community engagement, reinforcing the group’s ethos for its “Think People, Planet, and Community” focus. The group’s upcoming responsible business initiatives will include initiatives such as providing and arranging iftar for delivery drivers, running activities for Earth Hour, holding a community action month, and rolling out sustainability verification efforts across all hotels.

Radisson Hotel Group added more than 30,000 rooms in 2023

Radisson Hotel Group has already exhibited a strong commitment towards their sustainability efforts with its existing eco-labelling certifications, towel reuse initiatives, green housekeeping programme, and phasing out of single-use plastics, while also offering its guests 100% carbon-neutral meetings, and expanding EV charging networks, with more than 900 installations already in place. The group has already reduced its average energy and water footprint by 30% within the last decade, and it hopes to reduce its overall carbon footprint by 30% over the next five years, then halve it by 2030. Additionally, the Group aims to minimize the consumption of natural resources, increase the use of renewable energy, and phasing out single-use plastics.

In the future, the group hopes to also leverage green building practices, transition to renewable energy sources, and promote sustainable operations, thereby reducing its carbon footprint and aligning with the Paris Agreement.
