On 7 March, China Southern Airlines performed its inaugural Beijing Daxing – Singapore flight.
The new service will initially operate three times a week, using Airbus narrowbody aircraft on the six-hour flights, with recliner seats in business class.
From Daxing, the China Southern flights depart every Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 0230 and arrive in Singapore at 0900. They return at 1025 for a 1630 arrival back into the Chinese capital.
The Chinese state-owned carrier competes against compatriot China Eastern Airlines on the Singapore-Daxing (PKX) route, although China Eastern operates at a higher frequency and with long-haul configured Airbus A330-200 aircraft.
Star Alliance carriers Air China and Singapore Airlines offer multiple daily flights between Changi and Beijing’s old Capital airport (PEK).
China Southern has been flying to Singapore’s Changi airport since 1994.
It currently operates routes from Singapore to three cities in China – Beijing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
Separately, from April, China Southern also plans to operate a daily Beijing Daxing-Dhaka Airbus narrowbody service, and a twice-weekly Daxing-Tehran A330-300 service.
China Southern currently has more than 660 aircraft in service. The airline is no longer a SkyTeam member.
