American Airlines has announced a large order for 260 aircraft across three major manufacturers.

The deals will see the carrier take delivery of 85 Airbus A321neo aircraft, 85 Boeing 737 MAX 10s, and 90 Embraer E175s, with options and purchase rights for an additional 193 aircraft.

As part of the agreement AA has upgauged 30 existing orders for Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, for the larger 737 MAX 10, which is currently scheduled to enter service in 2025.

The new deals means the airline now has a total of 440 aircraft on order. AA said that expected deliveries of new aircraft, combined with the refurbishment of existing planes, would see the number of premium seating across its fleet grow by more than 20 per cent by 2026.

In 2022 the carrier unveiled new business class and premium economy cabins which are set to debut on forthcoming Airbus 321 XLR and Boeing 787-9 deliveries.
