Marriott Bonvoy and Cathay Pacific have launched a preferred partnership allowing Bonvoy Platinum, Titanium, and Ambassador members to receive Cathay Silver (oneworld Ruby) and a fast track to Cathay Gold (oneworld Sapphire).

Marriott Bonvoy Platinum and higher members can get Cathay Gold with 300 instead of 600 status points. You need to reach this during your Silver membership, and the status points can be earned on any Cathay partner airline.

Cathay Silver, Gold, and Diamond members are automatically gifted Marriott Bonvoy Gold status. If you spend 10 nights or more at Marriott hotels within six months of linking your Cathay and Bonvoy accounts, you will get Platinum status through early 2026.

Earning 300 Cathay status points, for example, may be earned by flying two full-fare Hong Kong to London roundtrips with Cathay in premium economy class, or almost three such roundtrips in discounted premium economy.

Marriott Bonvoy points can be mutually exchanged with Asia Miles from Cathay. With the two-way conversion programme, three (3) Marriott Bonvoy points can be converted to one (1) Asia Mile, and 2 Asia Miles can become one (1) Marriott Bonvoy point.

Bonvoy has launched a similar status match campaign with Singapore Airlines, and the programme has many other airline loyalty partnerships, including status match opportunities.

“Together with Cathay, the expansion of our global airline partnership program presents an opportunity to engage more members in the region as they go even further and explore new destinations around the world,” said Alison Yang, Vice President, Revenue Strategy, Loyalty & Partnerships, Distribution, Greater China, Marriott International.
