The former Holyrood Hotel in Edinburgh’s old town has been reflagged as the Edinburgh Marriott Hotel Holyrood following a £10 million refurbishment programme.
Situated opposite the Scottish Parliament building, Dynamic Earth science attraction and Royal Holyroodhouse, the 160-room property now features the brand’s signature M Club Lounge for Marriott Bonvoy elite members.
Other facilities include an all day dining restaurant and bar in the Greatroom lobby, as well as a renovated spa and fitness centre with a 14-metre pool.
Interiors have been inspired by the late Scottish artist Sir Eduardo Luigi Paolozzi, known for his sculpture and graphic work and considered to be one of the pioneers of pop art.
Edinburgh Marriott Hotel Holyrood joins Marriott’s existing properties in the Scottish capital including Sheraton Grand Hotel and Spa, Edinburgh, Moxy Edinburgh Fountainbridge, Four Points by Sheraton Edinburgh and Moxy Edinburgh Airport.
In December the group opened the first Scottish property under its W Hotel Brand, located within the mixed use St James Quarter in Edinburgh’s East End.
Commenting on the news Michael Falla, general manager of Edinburgh Marriott Hotel Holyrood, said:
“The relaunch of Edinburgh Marriott Hotel Holyrood is an exciting development for the City and the Marriott brand. It is incredible to see the refurbishment nearing completion; bringing the aesthetic of the property and quality of service up to Marriott standards is testament to the hotel team’s hard work and commitment to take the Hotel on the next stage of its journey.
“Edinburgh is such a vibrant city bursting with history and culture, we’re looking forward to welcoming our new and returning guests to enjoy an elevated and enriched Marriott experience with all that the city has to offer.”
