Lufthansa Group carrier Eurowings is set to launch direct flights from Manchester to Stuttgart next spring.

The airline will operate a four-times-weekly service from 6 May, 2024, using an Airbus A319 aircraft. Flights will take place on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, with one-way fares starting from £39.99.

Ryanair previously ran this route between 2015 and 2019, with more than 78,000 passengers flying on the service in the last 12 months of its operation.

Chris Woodroofe, Manchester airport’s managing director, commented:

“We are thrilled to be adding another new destination to what is already the most extensive route network of any UK airport outside London, giving our passengers even more choice when planning their next trip.

“Our data shows that Stuttgart is one of the most in-demand destinations that is not already served, so it’s fantastic news that Eurowings will step in and meet that demand.”

The airport also highlighted the German city’s car industry in its release, with the likes of Mercedes-Benz and Porsche having their headquarters based in Stuttgart.

Manchester airport also revealed that it welcomed 16.4 million passengers between April-September 2023.
