St. Regis Hotels and Resorts has announced the opening of The St. Regis Riyadh in Saudi Arabia.

The hotel marks Marriott International’s 500th luxury property globally.

The St. Regis Riyadh is the only hotel within the recently launched Via Riyadh development which is home to designer boutiques, fine-dining restaurants and a cinema.

Situated at the entrance of the Diplomatic Quarter, the hotel is close to embassies and the central business district too.

The boutique luxury hotel in the Saudi capital features 83 guestrooms including 21 suites and a two-bedroom Royal suite with separate living and dining areas, a pantry and library.

The hotel features Salmani architecture, celebrating local design by way of the use of ancient Tuwaiq mountain stone found in the south of the kingdom.

The lobby has a curved sculptural grand staircase and a crystal chandelier depicting pages of a history book. Designed by Kristina Zanic, the hotel showcases artwork that explores the combination of tradition and modernity with contemporary, minimalist works adorning the walls and guestrooms.

The guestrooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows, large bathrooms, and walk-in wardrobes. Each room is designed with metallic hues of gold and copper along with beige and blues.

F&B options include The Drawing Room lounge serving coffee and artisan pastries throughout the day. Inspired by Jackie Kennedy Onassis’ love of the Mediterranean, Jackie is spread over two floors and features a large oak table as well as carved ceiling alcoves while celebrating American Greek cuisine. On the rooftop, Stella Sky is situated around the outdoor pool with views across the city. It will feature live entertainment, sheesha and a live station serving sushi and sashimi infused with Saudi spices.

Leisure amenities at the property include The St. Regis Spa featuring domed ceilings reminiscent of Italian architectural structures. The 1,240 sqm spa has a private entrance, four treatment rooms, a couple’s suite, saunas, steam rooms, ice fountains and spa baths. The spa offers signature treatments, including a 24kt Gold and Platinum treatment, all performed with AMRA products. Guests can retreat to one of the relaxation lounges featuring a fireplace post their treatment. The hotel also features a rooftop pool with views over Via Riyadh and a fully equipped gym.

As for its events spaces, the hotel has a ballroom that can accommodate up to 650 guests with its own private access, banquet area and bridal suite too.

“The opening of The St. Regis Riyadh ushers in a new benchmark of luxury in Saudi Arabia offering guests a modern viewpoint on bespoke service, sophisticated dining and avant-garde design set within a new, iconic landmark in the capital,” said Jenni Benzaquen, senior vice president and global brand leader at The Ritz-Carlton and St. Regis.

Elsewhere within the region, St. Regis recently opened its first property in Morocco. The St. Regis La Bahia Blanca Resort, Tamuda Bay was developed by Eagle Hills, an Abu Dhabi-based private investment and real estate development company. It features 83 guestrooms and 17 suites as well as more than 5,000 sqft of event spaces.
