Hilton is set to open the first New York City property under its mid-market Tru by Hilton brand in the coming months.

A press release states that Tru by Hilton Brooklyn will debut at the end of 2023 (although the hotel’s website currently says it is accepting reservations from 3 February, 2024).

The 114-room property is located in Brooklyn’s Gowanus neighbourhood, within walking distance of Prospect Park, Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Botanic Garden and the Barclays Center, and features a business centre and free hot breakfast and wifi.

Hilton launched the Tru brand in 2016, at the time stating that it was aimed at “filling a massive void in the midscale category in the US and Canada”.

It has since grown to 250 properties – almost all of them in the US with a handful of locations in Canada, Mexico and Brazil.

Recent openings include the 87-room Tru by Hilton Chesapeake Greenbrier, the 82-room Tru by Hilton Christiansburg, the 82-room Tru by Hilton North Richland Hills DFW West, the 93-room Tru by Hilton Santee, and the 99-room Tru by Hilton Leland Wilmington

Commenting on the news Andrew Harp, brand leader, Tru by Hilton, said:

“I’m extremely proud of Tru by Hilton’s impressive growth not only in the United States but internationally in Canada, as well as the Caribbean and Latin America.

“Our goal is to provide everything guests want, delivering the essentials consistently and reliably in a fun environment. Each of our new locations is an opportunity to treat guests to the calibre of stay that has become synonymous with the brand.

“As Tru continues to grow, we look forward to extending our warm hospitality to even more travellers, making every stay a memorable one.”

IHG Hotels and Resorts recently opened the first New York property under its own midscale avid brand, situated in Brooklyn’s Dyker Heights neighbourhood.
