Hilton has opened the first property under its “approachable” lifestyle brand Tempo.
The 661-room Tempo by Hilton Times Square is housed within 36 floors of the 46-storey TSX Broadway tower, a mixed use development combining the existing Palace Theatre with new retail, food and entertainment space.
The hotel’s lobby is located on the 11th floor, along with signature restaurant / cocktail lounge Highball with outdoor dining terrace, and Grab & Go for quick bites and Bluestone Lane coffee.
Among the room categories are nine Wellness Rooms – equipped with Peloton bikes, yoga mat and resistance bands – and 31 Ball Drop rooms with views of the Times Square Ball.
The hotel is the first of several Hilton properties set to open on Times Square in the coming months, including:
- Motto by Hilton New York City Times Square (accepting reservations from 25 September)
- Home2 Suites by Hilton New York Times Square (accepting reservations from 1 November)
- Hampton Inn by Hilton New York Times Square (accepting reservations from 1 November)
Hilton unveiled the Tempo brand in 2020, designed for “a growing segment of ‘modern achievers’ who seek a hotel experience that reflects their ambition”.
There are currently 35 Tempo properties under development in locations including Raleigh, Nashville, Louisville and San Diego.
Commenting on the news Danny Hughes, executive vice president and president, Americas, Hilton, said:
“Times Square is experiencing its renaissance, and, in partnership with TSX Entertainment, we’re excited to play a part in propelling this iconic neighborhood into its next chapter, encapsulating the energy and vibrance of the heart of the Big Apple.
“Tempo by Hilton Times Square is an important addition to Hilton’s portfolio of more than 50 hotels across New York City, and we’re delighted to serve as the new homebase for business travelers, leisure travellers and locals looking to stay and play in this dynamic destination.”
