Marriott has opened the latest US property under its luxury The Ritz-Carlton brand.

The 251-room The Ritz-Carlton, Portland is housed within a 140-metre-tall “cystalline tower” in the city’s downtown area, and features a Forest Hall lobby which “mimics the lush landscape of the Pacific Northwest”.

Facilities include The Ritz-Carlton Club and signature restaurant Bellpine on the 20th floor, as well as Cloudbreak on Nineteen wellness floor with infinity pool, fitness centre, yoga studio and spa.

The hotel also features an art collection by local artists including David Rice, Rachel Austin and Kavin Buck, as well as a “bespoke room scent” created by Pacific Northwest-based Antica Farmacista.

Portland has had a nonstop connection to London since last year, when British Airways launched its delayed route from Heathrow.

The Ritz-Carlton, Portland joins around 110 properties under the brand worldwide, including The Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad which opened last year.
