Finnair is set to overhaul its short-haul Embraer fleet from the start of next year.

The carrier’s E190 aircraft are operated by Nordic Regional Airlines and serve a range of the airline’s domestic and European destinations, including Rovaniemi, Dublin and Edinburgh.

The aircraft will receive a new cabin design, including new seats, curtains and the same “warm, comforting colours” seen in the carrier’s redesigned long-haul aircraft cabins and the non-Schengen lounges in Helsinki.

The refreshed cabins, complete with 100 seats, will be available on select Embraer flights from late 2024, with all 12 aircraft due to be refurbished by 2025.

Ole Orvér, Finnair CCO, said:

“We want to improve travel comfort and provide our customers with a high-quality travel experience across our route network.

“We will bring similar elements and feeling to our Embraer fleet as we have used in our previously redesigned Airbus wide-body aircraft.”

This comes after the airline’s €200 million investment programme in its long-haul products, which includes a new business class seat, the airline’s first premium economy cabin and a refreshed economy class.
