Delta has unveiled a revamped inflight wine programme in partnership with Master Sommelier Andrea Robinson.

A total of 17 new wines have been added to the rotational inflight menus across economy, premium economy, business and first class cabins.

The carrier said that it received more than 1,700 RFPs (requests for proposal) for the new programme, which were narrowed down to 500 for the first round of selection.

Teams at Delta, alongside Andrea Robinson and selected Diamond Medallion members were involved in the process, with 200 wines moving forward to the second round.

Of these 32 received “high scores”, and eventually 17 were chosen to join the programme, according to criteria including availability, style, growing region, wineries and balance of varietals.

The new selection includes Casa Saulita Chenin Chardonnay in Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort Plus, and Main Cabin, and Pebble Lane Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay in domestic first class.

Delta One cabins will see additions including:

Reds

Jordan Cabernet (September to November 2023), Famille Perrin Chateauneuf-du-Pape (December 2023 to February 2024), Luca “G-Lot” Pinot Noir (December 2023 to February 2024), Intercept by Charles Woodson Cabernet Sauvignon (March to May 2024), and Susana Balbo Signature Malbec (June to July 2024)

Whites

Invivo X, SJP (December 2023, January to March 2024, and June to July 2024), Bodegas Ontanon Tempranillo Blanco (March to May 2024), and House of Brown Chardonnay (December 2023, January to February 2024, and June to July 2024)

Commenting on the selection Robinson said:

“A good wine makes good food taste even better. That’s especially true at altitude where you don’t have as much moisture and aroma concentration; wines with vibrant acidity and punchy fruit and aromatics, keep your taste buds active, and help bring out the flavours of food.”
