Hyatt has announced new home rental platform Homes & Hideaways by World of Hyatt.

The platform will offer a collection of short-term private home rental properties in the US, and is expected to launch “in the coming weeks”.

World of Hyatt members will be able to earn and redeem points  – as well as earn tier-qualifying night credits – when booking stays through the platform.

As part of the launch Hyatt will sell its existing vacation rental management Destination Residences Management to real estate firm Lowe, with the Homes & Hideaways platform “expected to feature key existing DRM properties in top US leisure destinations”, ranging from beachfront escapes, to mountainside ski chalets, villas, country chateaus, cottages, modern townhouses, apartments, flats and penthouses.

The platform will initially offer properties in US locations including Hawaii and Colorado, and Hyatt plans to grow the offering globally.

Commenting on the news Amy Weinberg, senior vice president, brand, loyalty and data, Hyatt, said:

“We are committed to evolving access to the type of accommodations World of Hyatt members are seeking that go beyond our hotels – from a large family who travels together or guests looking to work from anywhere for an extended period of time.

“Homes & Hideaways by World of Hyatt brings a unique collection of curated homes which increases Hyatt’s home offerings and expands new ways and new places where we can extend care to members.”

The platform will compete with existing home rental concepts by hotel groups including Marriott (Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy) and Accor (Apartments and Villas).
