Korean Air has introduced a branded craft lager to its lounges and inflight services.
The airline has partnered with Korean brewery, Playground Brewery, to create ‘KAL’s Lager’, which is packaged in 500ml cans depicting the carrier’s aircraft in the sky.
The lager is available at Korean Air’s lounges at both Incheon and Gimpo International airports, and customers will be able to enjoy the beer in all classes on international routes from September.
Additionally, the lager will be available to purchase exclusively at Emart24 convenience stores in Korea. Customers can currently accrue one mile per KRW2,000 when their total purchase amount is over KRW10,000 at Emart24. They will earn additional SkyPass miles when they buy over KRW10,000 worth of canned beer including KAL’s Lager until 30 September.
A number of airlines have collaborated with breweries to introduce their own beers over the years. In 2019 Cathay Pacific brought back its Betsy Beer and British Airways has partnered with Brewdog to serve an American-style IPA named ‘Jet Stream’ to its customers.
On the rail side, Eurostar recently partnered with Two Tribes brewery to launch its own pale ale for services in Europe.
