Wyndham Hotels and Resorts is set to open its first hotel under its budget Super 8 brand in the UK this month.

The hotel company has partnered with UK motorway service operator Roadchef to open Super 8 by Wyndham Chester East, located just off the M56 motorway. The 41-room hotel  is expected to serve road travellers around the Cheshire, Greater Manchester and North Wales areas of the UK.

The hotel will open following an extensive refurbishment project, which is part of a larger multi-million pound investment by Roadchef, which is upgrading its roadside hotels. The design has been influenced by research on UK travellers’ preferences, conducted by Roadchef, which found that frequent travellers wanted greater choice, flexibility and electric vehicle charging options.

The property will offer a variety of room types capable of accommodating families, groups, couples or individuals. These will include standard double, twin and king guest rooms, along with two-bedroom accommodations with lounge areas and king beds. The hotel will also provide “the latest in-room tech”, free wifi, sleek furnishings and signature artwork along with a bar and restaurant and on-site EV charging facilities.

Dimitris Manikis, President EMEA at Wyndham Hotels and Resorts said:

“Today’s travellers want a quality experience but at an affordable price, which is exactly what Super 8 by Wyndham offers. It’s a brand that’s all about embracing the journey, helping guests rest up, refuel and tackle the open road ahead. For that reason, Roadchef – a company known for leveraging innovation placing convenience and comfort at the heart of their business – is the perfect partner to help us bring Super 8 by Wyndham to the UK.”

The Super 8 by Wyndham brand has approximately 2,700 hotels around the world in destinations including the US, China, the Dominican Republic, Indonesia, Germany, the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

Business Traveller recently sat down with Dimitris Manikis to hear about the group’s plans for EMEA, the challenges facing the travel and hospitality industry and the future of sustainability.
