British Airways has announced plans to open a new bar at its Heathrow Terminal 5B lounge in partnership with Whispering Angel.

The bar is set to open this summer at the carrier’s lounge near the terminal’s B gates, and will exclusively offer the rosé wine by Caves d’Esclans.

The unveiling of the new bar – which will be coloured pale pink “to emulate the light tones of the rosé served” – will coincide with a wider refresh of the lounge, with new and reupholstered furniture and a revamped layout.

It follows the recent unveiling of the Bridge Bar within the joint British Airways and American Airlines Greenwich Lounge at New York JFK Terminal 8.

Whispering Angel is currently available at all of BA’s First and Club lounges at Gatwick and Heathrow, and as part of the agreement guests at the carrier’s Club lounges will be able to enjoy The Pale Rosé by Caves d’Esclans.

Whispering Angel is described as having a delicate Provençal pink hue, with creamy flavours of peach and raspberries, refreshing citrus undertones and a smooth, dry finish.

In April Virgin Atlantic announced plans to offer the rosé wine to its Upper Class customers as part of its spring/summer 2023 inflight menu.

Commenting on the news Calum Laming, British Airways’ chief customer officer, said:

“Our customers are already telling us how much they enjoy the Whispering Angel rosé we are serving in our lounges, so we are thrilled to be opening an exclusive Whispering Angel bar.

“We truly believe this will be a massive hit with customers and we are excited that its introduction will coincide with a newly refurbished lounge in the satellite at London Heathrow Terminal 5 B gates.”

BA also provided an update on the rotating English sparkling wine options which will be served in Club World over the coming months. The current Digby Fine English Brut NV will be replaced by Balfour Rosé de Noirs from July, followed by Simpsons Chalklands Cuvee Brut NV from October, and Wiston Estate Brut NV from January 2024.
