Canadian hospitality firm Sandman Hotel Group is set to open its fourth UK property in the coming months.
The 179-room Sandman Signature Glasgow Hotel is housed within the converted Pegasus House office building on the corner of West George Street and Holland Street, in between the city’s West End and city centre.
The hotel is currently taking reservations for stays from June 12, and will feature a steakhouse restaurant and bar, two events spaces, 24-hour room service and a fitness centre.
The first Sandman Signature UK hotel opened in Newcastle in 2011, followed by properties in Gatwick and Aberdeen – the group also operates The Quays Hotel in Sheffield, and Portmarnock Hotel and Golf Links in Dublin.
The About Us page of Sandman’s website says that “Sandman Hotel Group UK&I will expand further in the upcoming years, with the planned opening of Sandman Signature Edinburgh Airport Hotel”.
Commenting on the Glasgow opening Mitch Gaglardi, director of Sandman Hotel Group United Kingdom and Ireland, said:
“This particular hotel is especially close to my heart, as I spent a number of years living in Glasgow creating great memories with my wife and kids. From its incredible architecture to its vibrant cultural scene, Glasgow is hands down one of my favourite cities in Europe.
“Our first hotel in the city will offer guests a stylish and memorable experience, and in a prime location – just a stone’s throw from the leafy west end and a short drive from the airport.
“We’re excited to add a further 179 bedrooms and suites to the city for people to come and enjoy its world-famous hospitality.”
