Delta has opened its latest US Sky Club lounge, located within the new terminal building at Kansas City International airport.

The 11,200 square foot facility has seating for nearly 200 guests, and features works by regional artists, as well as two all-weather Sky Decks with airfield views, a bar and buffet.

It is currently the only airline lounge at Kansas City International, and is housed within the new 39-gate terminal at the airport, which has seen operations consolidated into single terminal following a $1.5 billion project.

Delta flies daily to all nine of its US hubs from Kansas City, and plans to launch additional daily frequencies this year to Atlanta, Boston and Minneapolis.

In the last 12 months the carrier has opened a raft of new and expanded Sky Clubs, all of which have been reported on this site:

This year Delta expects to open a total of eight new or expanded lounges, including:

  • A new Concourse G Club at Minneapolis St Paul
  • A new lounge at New York’s JFK T4 as part of Delta’s move from T2
  • An expanded Club at Fort Lauderdale
  • A new lounge within Boston’s E Concourse
  • A relocated Sky Club at Newark airport (from Terminal B to Terminal A)
  • An expanded lounge at Miami International
  • A renovated Sky Club at Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson

Commenting on the opening Claude Roussel, managing director – Delta Sky Club, said:

“The Delta Sky Club team is thrilled to welcome customers in Kansas City – our first new market in several years.

“We are proud to be a part of the new MCI, elevating this remarkable transformation with our signature lounge experience.”

In December Delta announced plans to make several changes to its Sky Club access policy “to help preserve a premium experience”.

These include an increase in the fees for annual Club memberships, and new restrictions on entry eligibility.
